Two years ago, I decided I had already ‘done all the things’ that we are programmed to do in normal American life. I graduated high school, did some college, got a couple of trades under my belt, worked hard, got married, bought a few houses, got a dog, divorced, then lived in the same house and had the same job for the last 15 years. Blah blah blah.
In 2014, my last long relationship ended. I looked around my house and thought, ‘What now? I don’t want a roommate, and I don’t want to live alone in my 3br 2 ba house. It’s way bigger than I need.’
The spark to live differently had always been with me, and suddenly I was totally free to try to launch into that new life.
Six months later, I had rented out the house, sold all the crap I had accumulated in the last 20 years or so, bought my truck and travel trailer and I was gone! I hit the road and I haven’t looked back. That was 2 years ago.
I’ve been living happily on public lands or ‘moochdocking’ here and there ever since. This doesn’t suck, guys!
